Critical Mass Aberdeen city centre cycle ride is no more than just a time and a place for like minded people to come together to raise the profile of Urban cycling.
It is not a formal organised event, as people are free to come and go as they wish and are responsible for their possessions, their own safety and the safety of other road users.
Essentially bicycles are just another form of transport that makes up traffic in the city - the greenest, the smallest and the most sustainable form or traffic - which we need more of on our streets to make them a familiar sight.
We need to get to a point of 'critical mass' to drive home to Aberdeen City Council the need for safe and sustainable travel infrastructure for all modes of transport. The city and its residents will prosper in the short-term and long-term and the highstreets can be brought back to life with people returning to to the city centre as a result of good cycle facilities. "Build it and they will come"!
