Member Moderation
Approve join requests, ban spammers, and manage rejected users.
As a group organiser, you have tools to manage who can join your group, moderate members, and keep your community safe from spam and unwanted content.
Requiring approval to join
By default, anyone can join your group instantly. You can enable join approval to review each request before someone becomes a member.
- 1Go to your group's
Settingspage - 2Open the
Memberstab - 3Toggle
Require approval to join groupto on
When enabled, people who click "Join" will be placed in a pending queue. You'll receive an email notification and can approve or reject them from the Members tab.
Note: Rejected users cannot re-request to join unless an organiser removes them from the rejected list.
Approving and rejecting requests
When someone requests to join, they appear in the "Pending Requests" section of the Members tab.
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| Approve | The user becomes an active member and appears in the group |
| Reject | The user is blocked from re-requesting. They appear in your "Rejected" list where you can overturn the decision later |
Banning members
If a member is posting spam or behaving inappropriately, you can ban them from your group.
- 1Go to
Settings → Members - 2Find the member and click
Ban
When you ban a member:
- All their posts in your group are hidden
- All their comments in your group are hidden
- They are removed from any events they RSVP'd to
- Their activity feed entries are hidden
- They cannot rejoin or request to join the group
Important: Banning is a strong action. The ban can be overturned from the "Banned users" list at the bottom of the Members tab.
Managing rejected and banned users
Rejected and banned users appear in collapsible lists at the bottom of the Members tab. From these lists you can:
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| Approve / Unban | Re-admits the user as an active member. For unbanned users, their hidden content is restored. |
| Remove | Permanently deletes the record. The user will be able to request to join again. |
Removing members
You can remove an active member from your group without banning them. This is useful if someone joined by mistake or is no longer relevant to the community.
Removing a member also deletes their "joined" activity from the group feed. Unlike banning, their posts and comments remain visible and they can rejoin the group.
